Pachy García’s musical journey began in Puerto Rico with the guitar, but his passion for early Jamaican music led him to explore piano, bass, and eventually drums after relocating to Los Angeles. There, he formed Prettiest Eyes and started collecting vintage recording equipment from thrift stores, gradually building a DIY studio known as 333 House. Inspired by dub pioneers like Scientist and King Tubby, he immersed himself in classic recording techniques, crafting hypnotic, rhythm-driven tracks. Each song was brought to life through a unique process—playing every instrument himself and mixing everything in a single live dub take, documented through videos on his Instagram. Support: TUNKUY

❀ PACHYMAN ❀
Pachy García’s musical evolution has been shaped by a deep connection to early Jamaican sounds and a hands-on approach to recording. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, he first picked up the guitar but soon gravitated toward piano and bass, drawn to the rich textures of reggae and dub. His musical journey took a significant turn when he moved to Los Angeles, where he began teaching himself drums and formed the band Prettiest Eyes. Alongside performing, he developed a passion for recording, scouring thrift stores and second-hand music shops for affordable vintage equipment. Piece by piece, he assembled a DIY studio in his basement, which he named 333 House.
Fueled by a desire to pay tribute to the pioneers of early dub reggae, García immersed himself in the recording techniques of legendary engineers like Scientist and King Tubby. His process became a blend of tradition and experimentation, capturing the raw essence of the genre while infusing it with his own energy. Every step of the recording was done independently—playing all the instruments, layering the sounds, and finally mixing everything in a single live dub take. His work not only channels the spirit of classic reggae but also showcases a deeply personal and hands-on approach to music production. Documenting his creative process on Instagram, he gives an inside look at the magic behind the music, offering glimpses of the rhythmic, hypnotic sounds taking shape in 333 House.

WINE LIPS have been on a relentless, high-voltage journey since their 2015 beginnings in Toronto. What started as a side project for Cam Hilborn and Aurora Evans quickly became an international sensation, taking them from North America to an unexpected tour of Hong Kong and China. Their 2019 album Stressor earned critical acclaim, landed tracks on radio charts across Europe and North America, and even found its way into Netflix series. After the pandemic forced a break, they returned with Mushroom Death Sex Bummer Party, which exploded—earning rave reviews, multiple vinyl pressings, and widespread licensing, including placements in The Rookie, Hockey Night in Canada, and various video games. With their latest record, Super Mega Ultra, Wine Lips push their garage-psych-punk sound even further—12 tracks of pure, high-speed chaos, recorded once again at The Sugar Shack. And, as expected, more relentless, sold-out touring awaits.

☺ WINE LIPS ☺
Wine Lips have been on a wild, high-energy ride since forming in Toronto in 2015. What started as a part-time project between frontman and songwriter Cam Hilborn and powerhouse drummer Aurora Evans quickly transformed into a full-time international sensation. Their raw, psych-fueled garage punk sound caught fire with the release of their debut album, leading to extensive North American touring and, unexpectedly, a whirlwind tour across Hong Kong and China. The momentum only grew with their 2019 album Stressor, which was met with widespread critical acclaim. Tracks from the record landed on radio charts across North America and Europe, while several songs found their way into major broadcast series and Netflix productions, solidifying the band’s reputation for crafting infectious, high-energy anthems.
When the world shut down in 2020, Wine Lips took the forced break as an opportunity to fully dedicate themselves to their next album. The result was Mushroom Death Sex Bummer Party, recorded at The Sugar Shack with Simon Larochette. The album was an explosive success, garnering glowing reviews from international music press, multiple vinyl pressings in various color variants, and heavy licensing placements in TV, film, and video games—including The Rookie, Hockey Night in Canada, and Population 11. As the band hit the road again, the shows got bigger, the crowds got louder, and the energy on stage was more intense than ever.
Now, Wine Lips are back with their most ambitious record yet—Super Mega Ultra. Once again recorded at The Sugar Shack, the album cranks everything up to eleven, delivering 12 blistering, high-speed tracks that push the boundaries of their signature garage-psych-punk sound. Packed with relentless energy, razor-sharp riffs, and controlled chaos, Super Mega Ultra is proof that the band is only getting louder, wilder, and more unstoppable. With another round of relentless touring booked, Wine Lips are set to bring their electrifying live show to even bigger stages, proving that the ride is far from over.

☺ MAYA ONGAKU ☺
Maya Ongaku are a sonic collective from the coastal town of Enoshima, Japan, weaving a uniquely spiritual blend of psychedelic folk, ambient improvisation, and minimal groove. Their name, which loosely translates to “illusion music” or “mystic music,” perfectly captures the ethereal, almost dreamlike quality of their sound—at once rooted in nature and drifting far beyond it. With their forthcoming album The Spirit of the Sea, set for release on May 30, 2025, via Tokyo psych powerhouse Guruguru Brain, the trio continues their quiet, mesmerizing exploration of sound, space, and memory.
Formed by Tsutomu Sonoda, Ryota Takano, and Shoei Ikeda—friends and collaborators who met while working at a local record store—Maya Ongaku was born out of a shared love for obscure world music, vintage psychedelia, and the meditative power of repetition. Their music flows like a tide: never in a rush, yet always moving forward. Instruments drift in and out of focus—flute, acoustic guitar, hand percussion, tape hiss, whispered vocals—creating textures that feel both ancient and new. There’s a warm looseness to their compositions, often recorded live with few overdubs, allowing space for accident, intuition, and atmosphere.
The Spirit of the Sea follows their 2023 debut Approach to Anima, which quietly garnered an international cult following for its understated beauty and subtle emotional pull. On the new record, the trio leans even further into improvisation and ambient field recording, often incorporating the natural sounds of Enoshima’s beaches and forests. The result is music that feels deeply connected to place—not just geographically, but spiritually. It’s as if each track is a meditation on impermanence, light, and the spaces between things.
Drawing comparisons to artists like Kikagaku Moyo (whose label they share), early Pink Floyd, Midori Takada, and Popol Vuh, Maya Ongaku stand apart in their commitment to slowness, restraint, and organic connection. Their live performances are rare and intimate, often featuring incense, projections, and extended improvisations, more ritual than rock concert. They are not a band in the traditional sense, but rather a vessel—a collective voice that channels something older, quieter, and perhaps a little bit magical.
With The Spirit of the Sea, Maya Ongaku invite listeners to step away from the noise and into a world of soft winds, golden afternoons, and the sacred hum of the present moment. It’s music for losing time, and maybe even for finding yourself.

MORE DETAILS
“Lady Wray carries the charisma of a Jackson 5 family member, while also boasting similar vocal prowess to an icon such as Aretha Franklin." - Consequence of Sound
The legendary artist’s most recent critically acclaimed LP ‘Piece of Me’ was released on Big Crown Records last year. While her debut in 1998 sonically showcased the dexterous range of Lady Wray’s voice and songwriting by leaning toward soul and R&B with tinges of hip-hop. On ‘Piece of Me’, we still hear R&B but with a heavy dose of soul. Think boom-bap-smacked drums and chunky basslines front-and-center, all creating a head-noddingly dense backdrop for Lady Wray to traverse—much like the era in which she was first introduced to us. In some ways, Piece of Me is like a Big-Crown-ification of late 90s R&B—and Lady Wray is right at home.
Like most artists, Nicole Wray’s life in music has always reflected her real life. As a fifteen-year-old in Virginia, she auditioned for Missy Elliot in her mother’s home. Even then, with her voice so full and arresting—Missy signed her on the spot. Later, in 1998, merely two years after that tryout, she had a debut solo album and a single that smashed up radio and TV, quickly going gold. But back then—young and unsure—Nicole was essentially following someone else’s lead, signing the lyrics they wrote for her and in the way they wanted them sung.
Fast forward to now, after a few fits and starts with other labels and projects, and you’ll find a very different Nicole Wray. Today, she’s a mother, a wife, and living for herself and her family. So naturally, this evolution followed into her music: she sings how she wants to, expertly writing lyrics for herself and others. To hear her tell it, it’s these things—and most importantly, an unflinching self-belief—that help lead a young and raw Virginian singer named Nicole to become Lady Wray.
